The 3TGs
Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions we hear from prospective and current clients.
Working with us
What does "3TGs" stand for?
+3TGs refers to Tin, Tantalum, Tungsten, and Gold, the four minerals commonly associated with conflict-affected and high-risk areas. While we started with conflict minerals compliance, we now support the full spectrum of product compliance including REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, PFAS, TSCA, and ESG reporting.
Who are your typical clients?
+Manufacturers, hardware distributors, and suppliers in electronics, automotive, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, energy storage, and consumer goods. Our clients typically have complex multi-tier supply chains and sell into regulated markets across North America, Europe, and Asia. Some are running their first compliance program, others are scaling an existing one.
How is The 3TGs different from compliance software platforms?
+Most platforms sell you the tool and leave you to do the work. We do the work. The 3TGs handles supplier outreach, data collection, validation, smelter verification, and documentation packaging directly. No platform licenses, no training overhead, no seats to manage. You get audit-ready outputs without building an internal team.
How do I get started?
+Book a free 30-minute strategy call. We'll review your product portfolio, identify which regulations apply, and outline what a compliance program would look like. From there, we'll scope the work and provide a fixed-fee quote. Most clients are up and running within a week of signing.
Pricing & engagement
How does pricing work?
+We offer two engagement models. Project-based pricing for defined-scope work like a CMRT collection cycle, a REACH documentation package, or a Prop 65 risk assessment. Monthly subscriptions for teams that want to fully delegate ongoing compliance, including continuous supplier engagement, regulatory monitoring, and recurring reporting. Both models use fixed fees. You know the cost before we start.
Can I start with a single project and expand later?
+Yes. Many clients start with one regulation or one collection cycle, then expand the scope as they see results. There's no commitment to a larger engagement upfront.
Can you handle urgent deadlines?
+Yes. We offer expedited timelines for filing deadlines, customer audit requests, and market access requirements. Let us know your deadline on the strategy call and we'll confirm whether we can meet it before you commit.
Compliance process
What is a CMRT and why does it matter?
+The Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) is a standardized form developed by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) for disclosing the use of tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold in your supply chain. It's required for SEC filings under the Dodd-Frank Act and is routinely requested by major OEM customers as part of their due diligence programs. The 3TGs handles the full CMRT lifecycle: collection from suppliers, validation, smelter verification, and rollup into a submission-ready package.
Do you contact suppliers directly?
+Yes. We manage the full supplier outreach process on your behalf, including initial requests, follow-ups, escalation notices, and education. We communicate as an extension of your team, using your branding and contact information where appropriate. This is typically the most time-consuming part of any compliance program, and it's where we add the most immediate value.
What if my suppliers aren't responding?
+This is the most common challenge we solve. We use structured multi-wave campaigns with defined escalation triggers, segmented follow-up sequences, and executive-level escalation for critical suppliers. Most programs we manage achieve response rates above 80% within the first collection cycle.
How long does a typical project take?
+It depends on the scope. A single-regulation documentation package (e.g., REACH or RoHS) typically takes 4 to 6 weeks. A full CMRT collection cycle runs 8 to 12 weeks depending on supplier count and responsiveness. We'll give you a realistic timeline during the strategy call based on your specific situation.
Data & security
How do you handle supplier data?
+All supplier data is transferred and stored using secure, encrypted platforms. Access is restricted to the project team only. We never share supplier information with unauthorized parties, and all data handling aligns with GDPR requirements. We're happy to walk you through our data handling protocols on a call.
Do you sign NDAs?
+Yes. We sign mutual NDAs before starting any engagement. If you have a standard NDA template, we're happy to review and execute it.
